Hike Cinque Terre: Corniglia-Manarola
A fabulous hike excursion to discover the Cinque Terre National Park.
Accompanied by a certified environmental and hiking guide, you will follow the path from Corniglia to Manarola, passing through the famous vineyards that make this area unique.
Why choose a walking tour in the Cinque Terre? Because in this way you will be able to grasp the true essence of this marvellous and fragile territory of Liguria: panoramas unique in the world, terraces overlooking the sea dedicated to the cultivation of vines, the scents of a luxuriant Mediterranean maquis, the famous dry-stone walls built thanks to the ingenuity of man who in more than a thousand years has “modified” the natural environment… all this is Cinque Terre!
Walking time: 3 hours
Difficulty: EE – For experienced hikers
Length: 5 km
Height difference: +/- 400 m
The meeting with the guide will be at the railway station of Corniglia, from here you will climb up the stairs composed of 377 steps leading to the village of Corniglia, the only one of the 5 villages not to be on the sea. The village is in fact located at an altitude of about 120 m on a promontory that falls steeply towards the sea.
After a short visit to Corniglia, characterised by narrow alleys, the famous belvedere (a splendid terrace overlooking the sea) and the Church of San Pietro dating back to 1334, you will continue your excursion along the path of terraced vineyards.
Thanks to this excursion, whose altimetric profile is characterised by an initial ascent up to 400 metres and then a descent down to sea level, you will be able to capture the true essence and soul of the Cinque Terre National Park: the famous terraced areas dedicated to the cultivation of vines and therefore to the production of the renowned wines of this area of Liguria. Since 1997, the Cinque Terre have been a World Heritage Site as a “”cultural landscape”” testifying to the interaction between man and nature to create a unique landscape and still showing a way of life that has survived for hundreds of years. Here, the marvellous geomorphological, environmental, man-made and architectural features, one inextricably linked to the other, come together in a harmonious whole.
The excursion ends in Manarola, a splendid village characterised by its narrow, colourful houses huddled together and the vineyards that surround it like an intense embrace.
Here the excursion can only end with a Cinque Terre white wine-based aperitif.
